Housing is a critical priority for our community. Like many rural areas, we face a significant shortage of affordable housing for young families, workers needed to fill local jobs, and seniors and vulnerable residents.
That’s why the Piney Regional Chamber of Commerce is advocating for Timberline Community Housing, a 20-room assisted living facility proposed for Sprague, Manitoba. This project will enable seniors to age in place, improving their quality of life, retaining their connections, and reducing isolation, all while bringing down their cost of living. The project further benefits the region by creating jobs and freeing up housing stock for new families and workers.
About South East Community Services Co-op
The SECSC, formed in 2020, started as a partnership of East Borderland Community Housing (EBCH), Piney Regional Chamber of Commerce and Rural Municipality of Piney. After 20 years of dedicated fundraising and advocacy by EBCH, implementing a co-operative organizational structure is an innovative way to approach the challenge of providing affordable housing. The SECSC board is now made up of a diverse group of co-operative members from the region with an interest in developing and maintaining affordable housing and other services within southeast Manitoba for seniors and our more vulnerable populations to benefit the entire community.
