Vanessa Backman Meet Vanessa Backman, a resident of the RM of Piney in her youth, and a long-time business owner and community contributor in Parry Sound, Ontario. Vanessa was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Travis Olifirowich Meet Travis Olifirowich, a realtor with Coldwell Banker since 2009 and a member of the PRCC since 2019. Travis grew up in the RM of Piney, where his knowledge and affection for the area originates. Currently, Travis and his family reside in Steinbach, Manitoba, although 50-70% of Travis’ work is done within the RMs of Piney and Stuartburn. Travis told the PRCC that “it’s easier to sell [in the RMs of Piney and Stuartburn] because I know what there is to offer in the area. Monique Chenier Meet Monique Chenier, the economic development and tourism manager with Sunrise Corner. Her position was formalized in 2019 with influence from the Piney Regional Chamber of Commerce. Doris Hovorka Meet Doris Hovorka, a proud member of the PRCC since 2017 who has spent much of her life giving back to her community. With the PRCC she represents the Sprague & District Historical Museum. Doris has been on the museum board of directors since 2004 and became President when Mary Stewart resigned in 2010. Doris started her teaching career in Piney, Manitoba in 1958, taught school in Winnipeg for two years, taught school in a one-room school at Whitemouth Lake and ended her teaching career at Ross L.
